A couple of inches was all that separated The Titans from the Warriors on Wednesday night as they played out the game of the RAM SLAM T20 so far at Sahara Willowmoore Park.
The deciding factor was a no-ball by Wayne Parnell, who overstepped on the final ball with Mangaliso Mosehle requiring two runs to win the game for the Titans.
Although Mosehle was caught off the delivery, the no-ball levelled the scores and he was able to run a single to give the Titans a six-wicket victory in the most dramatic circumstances.
Parnell had begun the final over with the Warriors needing 12 runs to chase down a target of 198, and appeared to have turned the game when he bowled Farhaan Behardien (72 from 47 balls) with his second delivery.
However, Mosehle hit his second ball for four, took two from the fifth delivery of the over and then profited from Parnell’s mistake.
It was a sensational end to a high-scoring game that was set up by Ashwell Prince’s 46 at the top of the Warriors order and Christiaan Jonker’s 57 not out from 30 balls in the middle.
With Davy Jacobs taking just 14 balls to score his unbeaten 31, the Warriors had amassed 197 for four in their 20 overs.
The Titans made a solid start to their chase with Henry Davids and Jacques Rudolph putting on 56 for the opening stand in less than six overs, but the key contributions came from Albie Morkel (49 from 25 balls) and Behardien.
The pair put on 105 in 56 balls as the Warriors failed to contain them, before Morkel fell to the final delivery of the penultimate over.
Behardien’s dismissal two balls later gave the Warriors hope, but Parnell’s error proved decisive as the Titans joined their visitors on eight points in the overall standings.
