No prize money has been announced yet by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for the Indian under-19 team team who lifted the Asian Cricket Council Under-19 Asia Cup on Saturday in Sharjah.

The BCCI President N. Srinivasan, Honorary secretary Sanjay Patel and the Joint Hon. secretary Anurag Thakur were quick to send their congratulations via a press release to the triumphant side.
“Yes, the prize-money would certainly boost the players’ confidence. Incentives and monetary benefits help the needy players”, said skipper Vijal Zol’s father, Hari. “I don’t wish to sound like I am complaining, but a few players do come from very poor backgrounds and some have left their studies to become cricketers.
“They feel proud to be playing for India, bit I think it’s a pity no congratulatory words have come from any of the senior members of Team India yet”, he added.
There was no live telecast of the matches in India so Hari could not watch his son’s century against Pakistan in the final.
“I was following the match and ball-by-ball commentary on a website and we are all very happy with the team performance”, he said proudly. “The victory in the final is the fourth consecutive win under my son’s captaincy and we are looking forward to one more in the World Cup”.
“The win against Pakistan is always special and even the senior team members come under pressure when we play against the arch rival”, he concluded.
