Highveld Lions RAM SLAM t20 reign comes to an end

The Highveld Lions’ reign in the RAM SLAM T20 effectively came to an end on Friday as their game against the Knights at Senwes Park was abandoned without a ball bowled.

Afternoon rain initially delayed the toss as the ground staff attempted to clear the ground water from the field, and after the Lions had won the toss and chosen to field, another downpour spelled the end of the evening before it had begun.

The two points took the Lions’ tally to five with three games remaining, making their progress to the play-off just about impossible - only three bonus-point wins and an unlikely set of results elsewhere could save them.

The washout also dented the Knights’ hopes - although the two points lifted them briefly into third with 14 points from eight games, they were set to drop down the table once the game between the Chevrolet Warriors and The Unlimited Titans was completed at Buffalo Park.
