VIDEO: Derbyshire coach Graeme Welch says team in good shape

Derbyshire’s elite Performance Director Graeme Welch travelled home from Abu Dhabi happy that the club’s UAE tour had been excellent preparation for the 2015 county season.

“I think the lads have benefitted from being outside, there’s been a lot of good performances, we’ve had a lot of competitive cricket and we’re looking forward to getting back to England and starting the season,” he said after the club’s second successive visit to the United Arab Emirates drew to an end.

“Obviously it’s nice to win, but part of the tour is trying to get a few lads overs under their belts, batsmen time at the crease and it’s been very profitable,” he added.

“It’s been pretty full on, we’ve only had one day off, but the practice facilities have been really good.”
