#CWC15: Zimbabwe name 30-man squad for ICC Cricket World Cup

Zimbabwe have become the latest team to name their 30-man provisional squad for the 2015 ICC World Cup which will be held in Australia and New Zealand in February and March of next year.

The squad includes six players who made their international debuts this year.

Among the notable inclusions are veteran batsman Stuart Matsikenyeri, who hit a century last week in the Pro50 Championship after an absence from the game; hard-hitting opener Cephas Zhuwao; and Matabeleland Tuskers’ Logan Cup seam-bowling stalwart Tawanda Mupariwa.

All 17 men who featured in Zimbabwe’s most recent One-Day International series in Bangladesh are also included, while Test specialist Tino Mawoyo makes an appearance. Prosper Utseya, who is suspended from bowling due to an illegal action, is also named, perhaps in anticipation of him being cleared to bowl again in international cricket in the near future.

Zimbabwe’s first match is against South Africa at Seddon Park in New Zealand on 15th February, with games against the UAE and Ireland on 19th February and 7th March likely to prove important if further questions over their Test status are to be allayed.

Squad: Elton Chigumbura (captain), Regis Chakabva, Brian Chari, Tendai Chatara, Chamunorwa Chibhabha, Craig Ervine, Luke Jongwe, Tafadzwa Kamungozi, Neville Madziva, Timycen Maruma, Hamilton Masakadza, Shingirai Masakadza, Stuart Matsikenyeri, Tino Mawoyo, Solomon Mire, Peter Moore, Tawanda Mupariwa, Natsai M’shangwe, Cuthbert Musoko, Richmond Mutumbami, John Nyumbu, Tinashe Panyangara, Sikandar Raza, Vusi Sibanda, Brendan Taylor, Prosper Utseya, Brian Vitori, Malcolm Waller, Sean Williams and Cephas Zhuwao.
