Victoria Bushrangers welcome back internationals for South Australia in Shield

The Bushrangers have recalled Peter Siddle, Chris Rogers, Jon Holland, John Hastings and Cameron White into their Bupa Sheffield Shield squad to face South Australia at Adelaide Oval from Sunday.
Siddle, Rogers and White return from international duties, Holland has been added as a second spin option, while John Hastings has recovered from a back strain which kept him out of Victoria’s eight-wicket defeat to Tasmania earlier this week. The quintet replaces Clint McKay, Scott Boland, David King, Alexander Keath and Ryan Sidebottom in the 12-man squad.

Siddle, who has claimed 111 wickets in 25 Shield matches with the Bushrangers at an average of 22.82, last played a four-day fixture for Victoria in November 2013.

It has also been a year since Rogers has played for Victoria, with the left-hander currently sitting as the 12th highest run-scorer in Sheffield Shield history with 9396 runs.

Only Darren Lehmann (45), Michael Bevan (42), Don Bradman (36) and Matthew Elliott (32) have scored more Shield centuries than Rogers (31).

The Bushrangers will also benefit from the return of White and Hastings, who were the side’s best batsman and bowler, respectively, last season. Holland has an impressive record at Adelaide Oval, where he has claimed 24 wickets at an average of 24.04.

After two rounds, Victoria is sitting second on the Shield table on 11.14 points with South Australia third on 9.55 points.

Meanwhile, Victorian selectors have announced a squad of 12 for the Toyota Futures League match against South Australia beginning on Monday (17/11) in Adelaide with Bushrangers rookie Aaron Ayre to captain the side.
