Tom Poynton tragedy leads to Leicestershire vs Derbyshire postponement

Sunday’s LV=CC match between Leicestershire CCC and Derbyshire CCC has been postponed after Tom Poynton was involved in a tragic car accident which saw his father Keith lose his life.

As a mark of respect, the game has been postponed until Sunday, June 8, and the ECB has given their blessing to the request.

The Derbyshire keeper, Tom Poynton, was later discharged from hospital.

Although the game has been rearranged, Leicestershire’s three day university fixture at Leeds-Bradford MCCU on Monday, June 9, will still take place.
