Frustrating days as Titans and Dolphins share the points

The Sunfoil Series match between the Dolphins and The Titans was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to persistent inclement weather at Sahara Park Kingsmead and the teams share the points.

The Titans had travelled down to Durban a day early after the match was brought forward by 24 hours to avoid a clash with former President Nelson Mandela’s funeral on Sunday.

However, such has been the amount of rain that Durban has seen lately that day one’s play was called off before 1pm.

The Titans are currently fifth and the Dolphins sixth in the Sunfoil Series standings, though both sides have played a game less than the other franchises.

DAY TWO of the Sunfoil Series match between the Dolphins and The Titans suffered the same fate as day one, with the two sides unable to take the field at Sahara Stadium Kingsmead.

Persistent rain made any play impossible, but the forecast for Friday suggests that the game may be able to get underway then.

DAY THREE The Sunfoil Series clash between the Dolphins and The Titans was abandoned without a ball being bowled after it became clear that persistent rain was going to make any play at Sahara Stadium Kingsmead impossible.

With the rain still falling on Friday morning, the match officials decided to call off the match on what should have been the third day.

It was a big blow for the Dolphins, in particular, who have now played just 102 overs of cricket in their last two fixtures.

Both teams were awarded five points for the washout, which lifted the Titans above the Chevrolet Warriors into fourth place.

The Dolphins remain bottom of the Sunfoil Series table, 6.18 points behind the Warriors.
