#WBBL02 Matthews, Sattherthwaite and Edwards rejoin Big Bash party

All-rounders Hayley Matthews and Amy Sattherthwaite will re-join the Hurricanes for Big Bash mark two, where they join current England skipper Heather Knight, while former England captain Charlotte Edwards has signed with the Strikers.

18-year-old Matthews has a successful debut WBBL. The West Indian also caught world-wide attention with her performance in the ICC World T20 final to help her team defeat Australia.

“I am really glad to be joining the Hurricanes again for WBBL02. The team is filled with so much talent and I can’t wait to re-join this summer,” Matthews said. “Last year it was fantastic to make the semi-finals and having the opportunity to have another go at the title with the Hurricanes is very exciting for me.”

Edwards played for the Perth Scorchers in WBBL01, but has made the move to the Strikers for the second edition. She retired a 20-year international career in May after England’s World T20 campaign ended at the hands of Australia in the semi-final in late March. Having represented England in 23 Tests, 191 one-day internationals and 95 Twenty20s, her record is unparalleled in the women’s game.

“I’m really excited about this opportunity with the Strikers, especially with the growth of women’s cricket in Australia at an all-time high,” Edwards said.

The Strikers also announced the re-signings of Alex Price, Megan Schutt, Bridget Patterson and Tahlia McGrath for WBBL02.
