Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar has said that Team India have a real chance to lift their second ICC T20 World Cup title in March.
The ICC World T20 gets underway in India on 8 March and home advantage often gives the hosts the tournament favourites tag, yet Tendulkar thinks Mahendra Singh Dhoni has every chance of lifting the trophy.
“We have a very good chance,” Tendulkar told PTI. “In T20 I think the team is well balanced with senior members in the squad, then also youngsters and guys who been around for a while and they all as a package have performed really well.”
Tendular, a winner of the tournament in 2007, added added that youngsters like Jasprit Bumrah and the more experienced Yuvraj Singh and Harbjajan Singh are the right men to steer India to glory.
“You see just the way Bumrah bowled in Australia was superb and then nice to have someone like Ashish Nehra back, Yuvi back in the squad, Harbhajan is there,” Tendulkar continued. “All these guys. It’s a formidable combination. I would definitely want India to go all the way.”
India have announced their 15-man squad for the World T20 and Asia Cup campaigns.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni (c), Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Yuvraj Singh, Ajinkya Rahane, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin Harbhajan Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, Ashish Nehra, Pawan Negi, Mohammadi Shami, Hardik Pandya.
