Imran Khalid was Man of the Match as Islamabad eased to a five-wicket win against Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League.
Khalid had put the skids under Karachi as they slid to 3 for two after 10 balls. James Vince was caught and Imad Wasim leg before and Khalid continued to trouble the Kings’ batsmen to finish with 2-19 in his four overs.
Shakzaib Hasan (27 from 19 balls), Ravi Bopara (45 from 50) and Mushfiqur Rahim (33 from 27) allowed Karachi to climb to 128 for five in their 20 overs, but it never seemed likely to be enough. Bopara is fast becoming the star of the tournament, but even his rich vein of form couldn’t save his side.
Khalid Latif, Misbah-ul-Haq and Asif Ali all made 30-plus as Islamabad United recovered from 19 for three and never came under serious pressure in their chase again. Their win by five wickets puts them third in the hunt to progress in the competition.
Islamabad United 131 for 5 (Misbah 38, Latif 33) beat Karachi Kings 128 for 5 (Bopara 45, Khalid 2-19) by five wickets
