Wayne Madsen - Talk of Derbyshire potential gone. It’s time to talk about now.

Wayne Madsen says his squad are determined to show the Derbyshire supporters what they can do as the 2016 English season approaches.

Captain Madsen and his players have been readying themselves for action since coming training commenced in November and they will welcome New Zealander Hamish Rutherford and Neil Broom into the fold in April.

“We are determined to put in good performance and do well in all formats this year,” Madsen told the Derbyshire CCC website. “It’s time for us to stop talking about the future and start talking about now. We have the quality in the squad and it’s now up to us to go out and get the results.

“Everybody is now a year older, year wiser and more experienced,” he continued. “With the additions of Hamish and Neil, who have both been in great form back home, we have a squad which can compete on all forms.

“Rutherford and Broom will be joining up with us in April and we are really excited to see Hamish again and to get to know Neil,” Madsen added. “They will be coming here hopefully full of confidence after good domestic campaigns in New Zealand. We saw the explosive talent that Hamish has in the time he was with us last year, and I can’t wait to see him do it again this time around.

“Our two new bowlers, Carter and Milnes, meanwhile, have settled in really well. You would think they had been here for years. They will both bring new options to our side and I’m excited to see how they go this season.

“The support we receive from our Members is vital in helping us achieve our aims. We fully appreciate the time and effort they put in when they come down and show their support. The countdown for the new season is now on and we hope we can give our Members plenty to shout about in 2016.”
