Australia A were 43-0 at stumps on day one after bowling India A out for 135 in Chennai today with Nair the one Indian bright light with 50.
India A elected to bat after winning the toss but the spin of Ashton Agar (2/23) Steve O’Keefe (2/30) had the hosts in trouble early at 4/53.
Nair top-spored for the day with 50 until he fell to an outstanding catch to Joe Burns off the bowling of Andrew Fekete.
A string of quick wickets fell after tea to the Australia A quicks. Gurinder Sandhu finished with 3/25 and Fekete 2/33. Marcus Stoinis also picked up 1/21.
Usman Khawaja (13*) and Cameron Bancroft (24*) will resume on day two tomorrow, 92 runs behind India A’s first innings total.
