#Ashes2015: Pat Cummins excited at England tour opportunity

Australia fast bowler Pat Cummins is relishing an unexpected Ashes opportunity after being named as Ryan Harris’s replacement on the England tour.

Cummins spoke to the media before heading to England and said, “It’s really exciting and a great opportunity, although not the nicest circumstances with Ryan going down, but a wonderful opportunity for me.”

Cummins hasn’t played a first-class fixture in over twelve months and admits he has a long way to go before playing a Test match, but the New-South-Welshman said his body was now ready for the longer form of the game. He has prepared for the longer formats after training his body at the National Cricket Centre, ironically alongside Harris for long periods.

“I’m certainly hopeful, but I know I haven’t played a first-class game for a year or two, so I think the jump up to a Test series was always going to be a big call and I’m really fortunate to get the call now,” Cummins said. “I guess my goal since the squads were announced was to prepare for India and the Aussie A series over there.”
