The man of the tournament at the ICC Cricket World Cup, Mitchell Starc, looks set to miss the start of the IPL due to injury.
The Australian left-arm paceman has a niggle in his knee after bagging 22 World Cup wickets and will remain in Australia for two or three more weeks to work with national physio Alex Kountouris.
He debuted in the IPL for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the last IPL, taking 14 wickets with an economy of 7.49 runs per over.
Starc was due to spearhead RCB’s attack, which will now look to fellow Australian Sean Abbott, New Zealander Adam Milne and Indians, Varun Aaron and Ashok Dinda.
CA medical staff have suggested that Starc will be up and running in two to three weeks.
RCB will take on defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their first match of this season’s IPL at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata on 11 April.
