David Hussey and James Pattinson return for historic Alice Springs clash

James Pattinson and David Hussey have been included in the Commonwealth Bank Bushrangers squad for their historic Bupa Sheffield Shield match in Alice Springs.

Pattinson’s return from injury continued last week when he claimed 3-45 in Victoria’s Toyota Futures League victory over Tasmania at Ringwood.

In the same match, Hussey blasted 167 from 146 deliveries alongside a half-century in the first innings.

The 37-year-old, that has nearly 14,000 first-class runs, at an average of 52.16, last played for the Bushrangers in November when he made 81 against South Australia.

Victorian selectors have named a squad of 13 with Chris Tremain missing out from last week’s defeat at the hands of New South Wales in Wagga Wagga.

In a low scoring match, half-centuries from Peter Handscomb and Marcus Stoinis were among the few highlights in the 156-run loss.

This week’s fixture will be the first Bupa Sheffield Shield match played in Alice Springs.

The venue, Traeger Park, has previously hosted a tour match between England and the Chairman’s XI in November 2013.

The match, to begin on Wednesday, will start at 11.30am Melbourne time.
