#CWC15: Imran Khan to gee up Pakistan ahead of World Cup

Imran Khan, the great cricketer turned politician, had been asked by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to give the Pakistan side a pep talk in advance of the Cricket World Cup.

Imran, who skippered Pakistan to 1992 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand is viewed as the perfect man to pass on the secrets of winning Down Under.

“We just want Imran to spend some time with the players and give them a pep talk and share his experiences of the 92’ event with them. He commands lot of respect among the players and he can certainly pass on some winning tips to the players,” a source at the PCB said.

The World Cup will meet Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad on Saturday and the plan involves a trip to see Imran in his Bani Gali residence..

Pakistan captain, Misbah-ul-Haq, is said to be keen to tap into Imran’s knowledge.

“Misbah who also hails from Mianwala the hometown of Imran wants the former great to tell the players first hand how he coped with the challenges in 92,” the PCB source added. “He believes the younger players in the side can be motivated by Imran.”
