Mohammad Hafeez arrives for unofficial testing as Saeed Ajmal withdraws from Cricket World Cup

Mohammad Hafeez, the 35-year-old Pakistani off-spinner, will be in India tomorrow for his unofficial testing of his bowling action in Chennai, but Saeed Ajmal won’t make the trip.

“The bowler will be tested at an ICC-accredited laboratory in Chennai and if the results are in his favour, we shall request the game’s highest governing body to do the official testing,” said PCB chairman Shahryar Khan.

“Hafeez will be accompanied by Dr. Saleem Sohail. We need a doctor to travel with him. They will be in India for a day and two and return immediately after the tests,” Khan added after stating that Saqlain Mushtaq will not accompanying former Test captain on the trip to India.
Saeed Ajmal and Hafeez both were suspended by the ICC for their suspected action.
“Saqlain Mushtaq tried hard to rectify their actions. Unfortunately, Saeed Ajmal did not feel himself ready for the tests and he himself withdrew from the probable list.
“Our team can still perform well without Ajmal. In UAE, our performance was not so bad against Australia though Ajmal was not there”.
“We have enough bowlers to fill his void. The selectors will announce the final team for the World Cup next month. Till that time, it will be up to selectors whether to add any name in the provisional list of 30″, Khan concluded.
