Lewis Hatchett agrees new two-year deal at Sussex

Lewis Hatchett has signed a new two-year contract with Sussex, which will see him remain at The County Ground in Hove until at least the end of the 2016 season.

The Shoreham-born 24 year-old, who made his debut for his home county in 2010, played eight of Sussex’s LV=County Championship matches in 2014, taking 22 wickets with a best of 5 for 113 coming against Durham at the Emirates ICG.

He featured in all eight of the Sharks’ Royal London One-Day Cup matches, claiming a best of 3 for 44 against Surrey at the Kia Oval, and took eleven wickets in Sussex’s NatWest T20 Blast campaign, with the highlight his 3 for 23 in the win over Middlesex at Hove.

“I’m really happy to sign for another two years,” Hatchett said of his new deal. “If I can keep improving like I did last year, and now that I am fully fit, then I know I can make an impact in the first team across all three formats.

“I was really happy to have performed roles like death bowling in one-day cricket and I felt I also improved in four-day cricket. If I have another good winter and work hard then I won’t be far from where I want to be.”

Sussex’s professional cricket manager Mark Robinson said, “Lewis had a breakthrough season last year, playing in all competitions and is in a great place to really kick on now. We’re looking forward to seeing him progress over the next two years.”
