Individual number 3 in Mudgal report is an Indian batsman

The Supreme Court on Monday has released the part of the Justice Mudgal IPL Probe Committee and identified four individuals - Gurunath Meiyappan, Raj Kundra, Sunder Raman and N. Srinivasan. The report on the allegations of betting and spot-match fixing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in Season VI have been numbered for 13 individuals, the identity of others have so far been kept confidential.

According to highly placed sources, the person known as ‘Individual no. 3′ in the report is an Indian batsman who was part of the Indian side that recently played a One-Day International series against Sri Lanka. No evidencc of betting or spotfixing has been found against the player. It could not be proved whether it was a ‘honey-trap’ when a girl was spotted in his room during India’s tour of Sri Lanka in 2010.

However, N. Srinivasan, who was a BCCI secretary then, didn’t take stern action against him for violating the Players Code of Conduct. Srinivasan, along with four other BCCI officials, was aware of the incident and therefore Srinivasan’s name has figured in the report.

According to the sources, Shashank Manohar, the BCCI president then, instructed the people who knew about the incident to warn the player.

If Srinivasan successfully appeals that he “ignored” the conduct violation on president’s advice, he may keep hope of being exonerated.

  1. When people in high office take no action when made aware of match fixing allegations. Then they are as corrupt as the match fixers themselves.
Indian cricket will have no credibility until these allegations are fully investigated and results made public..
