Dan Christian signs to play Natwest T20 Blast cricket for Middlesex Panthers

Dan Christian has signed to play NatWest T20 Blast cricket for Middlesex. Christian is expected to be available to play in all of Middlesex’s T20 Blast Group matches.

ECB-T20-13rebrand1Christian, 30, has significant T20 experience having played 125 short form matches in his career to date taking more than 100 wickets and striking over 1,600 runs so far in his career.

Strong performances during Australia’s 2013/14 domestic season saw Christian regain his place in Australia’s one-day and T20 sides, with his last international appearance being at the recently completed ICC World T20 in Bangladesh.

“I am delighted to have signed with Middlesex for the 2014 Natwest T20 Blast,” Christian enthused. “The opportunity to play at the Home of Cricket is a dream come true and I can’t wait to pull on a Middlesex shirt for the first time.

“Kicking off the tournament with a double header at Lords against Sussex and Essex in front of what I am sure will be a full house promises to be one of the highlights of my career. I look forward to helping Eoin and the boys challenge for silverware this year!”

“When we sat down to identify the type of cricketer Middlesex CCC required for this summer’s NatWest T20 Blast a seam bowling all-rounder was top of our list,” said managing director of cricket, Angus Fraser. “We are therefore delighted to have attained the services of such an experienced, talented and dangerous cricketer.

“Unlike many of this summer’s T20 signings Dan is available for selection for all of our NatWest T20 Blast Group matches, which was important to us.

“We believe Dan will offer the team experience and match winning performances; assets that any team would want to have. His recent appearances for Australia highlight how highly regarded he is ‘Down Under’ too.”
