Johan van der Wath’s four-wicket blitz in the morning and Rilee Rossouw’s half-century in the afternoon put the Knights in control of their Sunfoil Series match against the Warriors on day two at Chevrolet Park.
Van der Wath finished with figures of 6 for 74 as the Warriors were bowled out for 274 in their first innings, before Rossouw hit a brisk 52 to leave the Knights on 165 for three when rain brought a premature end to the day.
The Warriors resumed on 231 for six, but added just 43 runs as Van der Wath claimed the last four wickets - three of them caught behind by keeper Rudi Second.
Twenty-four of those runs came from a brief Rusty Theron onslaught, while Davy Jacobs scored 15.
Reeza Hendricks and Gihahn Cloete made a confident start to the reply as they put on 45 for the first wicket and, after Basheeru-Deen Walters dismissed both in successive overs, Rossouw led the fightback in a 70-run stand with Second.
Rossouw’s departure left the Knights 128 for three, but Obus Pienaar made a confident start to his innings and went to stumps on 22 not out, while Second was unbeaten on 39.
