The prolific left-handed batsman, currently out of the international reckoning, will miss the Welsh side’s first LV= County Championship match of the new season against Division Two rivals Surrey on April 6. The gruelling race starts on the same day.

Rudolph has signed a deal at the SWALEC Stadium for two years having had previous spells in county cricket with Yorkshire and Surrey.

Quoted on Walesonline.co.uk, Titans batsman Rudolph explained: “This year we celebrate the 10-year anniversary of Iron Man South Africa. The race itself has always been on my bucket list, and fortunately I received an entry last year.

“The Iron Man consist of 3.8km swim in the sea, 180km cycle followed by a 42.2km run. It is a massive personal commitment, and my preparation started a few months ago.

“It’s going really well. With two months of preparation left, I want to race this event to the best of my ability. I was inspired to take part in triathlon events by the Brownlee brothers. It’s great for the mind, and a fun way of staying fit and strong.”
