IPL 2014: Karan Sharma and Rishi Dhawan hit auction jackpot

Karan Sharma and Rishi Dhawan were the star attractions of the second and final day of the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction as they were bought for Rs 3.75 crore and Rs 3 crore by Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kings XI Punjab.

A total of 154 players have been sold, including 50 overseas players, as the two-day IPL auction ended in Bangalore.

Yuvraj Singh remained the top-priced player after being bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs. 14 crore yesterday.

The franchises were more frugal on day two after using the majority of their budgets on Wednesday.

Sharma was a key man in Hyderbad’s charge to the last four of the competition last season.

Dhawan was the Ranji Trophy leading wicket-taker this season and was signed by Kings XI Punjab using the right-to-match card after being initially purchased by the Sunrisers Hyderabad. The 23-year-old all-rounder has previously played for Kings XI Punjab in the 2008 IPL and was signed by the Mumbai Indians last season.

Kedar Jadhav was this season’s Ranji Trophy top-scorer and went for Rs 2 crore to Delhi Daredevils who used their right-to-match card to steal him away from Hyderabad. The 26-year-old enjoyed an exceptional domestic season and was with the Royal Challengers Bangalore development squad before being signed by Delhi Daredevils in 2010.
