Hampshire Cricket have formed a mutually beneficial partnership with London Irish Rugby Club which will see both Clubs work together for the foreseeable future.
To announce the unique partnership, which will offer reciprocal deals for both sets of supporters through exclusive offers on tickets and merchandise, four Hampshire players got the experience of training with a professional rugby team.
David Balcombe, Matt Coles, Adam Wheater and Lewis McManus all made the trip to Maidenhead Rugby Club, where London Irish were training ahead of their home Aviva Premiership match against Leicester Tigers this weekend.
London Irish Forwards Coach, Glenn Delaney put the players through their paces with series of tackle bag drills and light training routines.
“It’s an exciting partnership especially as both clubs draw large numbers of our fans and spectators from the same geographic areas,” said Hampshire Cricket’s Commercial Director, Stuart Robertson.
“We are looking forward to working with London Irish for many years to come.”
London Irish Commercial Director, Jim O’Toole said: “We are always looking to engage with people from different sports and show them what we have to offer both on and off the field. The fact that our supporters will be able to watch some top quality cricket during the summer months will be greatly appreciated. We look forward to working with Hampshire CCC.”
