He enabled Northerns to declare at 332 for 2. It has been a tough week for the Border bowlers who have conceded almost 700 runs in the two declaration matches. They did, however, manage to hold out for a draw, finishing on 201 for 8 in their reply.

This was the only century of the day with Martyn Strydom of Gauteng being the next best with 86 for Gauteng against Boland. It was his second successive score in excess of 80.

For the second day in a row Matthew Rolandt of Griquas finished with six wickets in an innings (6 for 24) although it was not enough to stop Mpumalanga from winning on the first innings. This was largely the result of the bowling of Benjamin van Niekerk who followed up his fifer on the first day with seven wickets spread over the two innings.

Sahil Patel (5 for 34 for Limpopo) and Wilber van Dyk (5 for 28) for Easterns claimed five-wicket hauls in the same match while Ziyaad Abrahams took 5 for 15 for Western Province in their first innings victory over Eastern Province.

The tournament switches to the T20 format tomorrow with all teams playing two matches.
