UNICEF Regional Director for South Asia Karin Hulshof presented a certificate and declared the master-blaster the ambassador for South Asia. Leading Pakistani TV channel, Geo News, showed the news on TV.

“We could not ignore the news when the Little Master was playing his final Tests in India’, Ali Mohammad, the Geo TV director said. ‘If any news require criticism, it has to…but good news can’t be ignored”, he added.

“The Taliban may have their own reason to issue such a statement”, he added. “It may be a political move as even Shiv Sena was opposing the Pakistani team playing in India, but we don’t want to go in details on such issues”.

Shahid Shaikh, the president of the Pakistan Sports Writers Federation (PSWF) believes that the shine can not be taken off a hero like Sachin Tendulkar.

“How can we stop the news about the greatest player?”, he claimed. “Tendulkar has almost broken all world records and calibre like him can’t be ignored in the world media”, he said. “The Taliban are rigid on their views and we don’t agree to their suggestion.

“Whenever the need arises to speak about records, Sachin Tendulkar will easily come in our minds”, he concluded.
