Ashton Agar, who made 98 on Test debut in the Ashes earlier this year, knows what is needed for him to feature in Australia’s home Ashes series which starts in Brisbane tomorrow.Agar, who once again came close to notching his maiden first-class century against South Australia last week when scoring 93 at the Adelaide Oval, said, “It’s obviously a different feeling - nothing compares to that feeling before an Ashes Test.
“I know what I have to do now, hopefully keep performing in Shield cricket and help Western Australia win some games”, he continued. “(Selection) is out of my hands - all I have to do is focus on my game. All I can do is perform well.
“If I don’t, I’m not a chance to play, but if I do you’re always pushing your name forward.”
The Warriors host Victoria Bushrangers at the WACA Ground in the Sheffield Shield, starting Friday and Agar hopes to break the hundred mark soon.
“I hope so, I’ve had a couple of 90s now, but it would be nice to get that 100″, he stated. “I’ll be doing my best to do so this week.
“I thought I was going to get it on that wicket (Adelaide Oval) and I managed to hit one down leg side to the keeper, which I was hitting for one or two all day.”
