A century to Shaun Marsh was a rare highlight for the Warriors who finished their RYOBI campaign with only one win from six matches. Marsh’s 119 runs contributed to more than half his team’s score of 212 for nine (from 46 overs, reduced due to rain) as wickets fell cheaply around him.

Ryan Harris, Nathan Hauritz, Matthew Gale and Ben Cutting all picked up two wickets each as wickets were shared evenly between the Queensland bowlers.

Andrew Tye was the other bright light for the Warriors, who picked up another two wickets today during Queensland’s successful run chase, and currently sits on top of the wicket takers’ table in his debut RYOBI tournament.

Usman Khawaja (88*) continued his stellar RYOBI form and, when the rain stopped play for the day, the Bulls were awarded the points after being 35 runs ahead according to the Duckworth Lewis method.

WA will now turn their attention to the Bupa Sheffield Shield which the team begins Wednesday week against Victoria in Melbourne.

“It was a bit wet underneath, so we needed to get through that first 15-20 overs and unfortunately we just kept losing wickets,” Marsh said. “But to go out there and do well personally was pleasing, but I’m disappointed we lost the game.”

The NSW Blues finished their Ryobi Cup league campaign with a 49-run (D/L method) win over South Australia. The victory sealed their position in the elimination final against Victoria Bushrangers on 24 October with Queensland Bulls waiting for the winner on 27 October.

David Warner scored 32 off 23 balls as the NSW openers put on 30 in 4.1 overs, before Nic Maddinson (75) and Kurtis Patterson added 101 for the fourth wicket. Sean Abbott (50) and Steve O’Keefe (32) kept things ticking to see their side to 252 for eight.

South Australia’s chase of a revised 248 in 41 overs saw them bowled out for 198 with Nathan Lyon and Abbott taking three wickets each.
