The bedrock of the Lancashire squad have been rewarded with new contracts following a successful season which saw them clinch the LV= County Championship Second Division title in style.
The powers that be at Old Trafford have moved quickly to secure homegrown talent ahead of the step up to the top tier next summer. Sixteen players have put pen-to-paper to commit to the Red Rose county and follow recent signing, Jos Buttler from Somerset, in doing so.
England’s premier paceman Jimmy Anderson has extended his stay at Old Trafford. The 31 year-old seam bowler has committed his immediate future to the county by adding an extra year to his current deal until the end of the 2015 season.
Young talents Jordan Clark, Alex Davies, Arron Lilley and Luis Reece have all extended their stays at the Club until the end of 2015.
Karl Brown, Kyle Hogg, Paul Horton, Simon Kerrigan, Stephen Parry, Luke Procter and Tom Smith, who have all come up through the ranks together to establish themselves in the team over recent seasons, have also penned deals until 2015.
Glen Chapple, Oliver Newby and Andrea Agathangelou have also extended their contracts by a year until the end of 2014 and all-rounder Liam Livingstone signed a one-year professional deal after making the step up from a scholarship contract.
Mike Watkinson, Lancashire’s cricket director, said: “With the exception of Andrea, all the players are products of our development system, which is a great endorsement of the strength and effectiveness of the cricket played across the County.
“It also provides the Squad with quality and stability as we look forward positively to the challenges ahead.”
